In The Wake Of The Tragedy In Charleston SC People Are Calling For The Removal Of The Confederate Flag. Is The Flag Just a Scapegoat For Bigger Issues?

Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL July 1, 2015

Gastonia, NC Correspondent-I’m not sure “blaming society” is the direction to go with the
Confederate flag donnybrook.  Dylann Roof was undoubtedly a deeply disturbed individual, and interviews with those around him indicate that there were numerous warning signs that his grenade of lunacy had its pin pulled quite some time ago. Continue reading

Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL May 8, 2015

Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent– Rioting, or uprisings, as some pundits call them, are out of control, and tougher responses are needed to constrain the elements of society who take rioting in the streets as a full or part time occupation.  Whether rioting involves knee-jerk reactions to unresolved crimes, court case outcomes, labor union disputes, sporting event incidents, or politically and racially motivated agendas, any uncontrolled acts of mayhem and violence must not be tolerated or permitted to continue without some type of lawful intervention. Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL, April 3, 2015

Asheville, NC Correspondent– Despite the recent publicity surrounding the hiring of a few female executives, the promotion of women to high ranks within companies is relatively rare. In 2014, women comprised less than 15% of executive officers, 8.1% of top earners, and 4.6% of Fortune 500 CEO’s. Only 3% of creative marketing directors are women. Less than 9% of top management positions are held by women across the entire economy. In technology, where these promotions have been most public, women still lag far behind men in rates of promotion. Women hold only 9% of senior management or higher positions. Continue reading

Myrtle Beach, SC, Orlando, FL, March 26, 2015

Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent-Donald Trump has toyed with and dabbled in presidential
politics over the years and more recently with the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, but he failed to follow through with the run and bowed out in the spring of 2011.  He did at one point have a lead in polling ahead of Mitt Romney before the Republican primaries but after he left the race altogether, his influence was limited.  Now, in 2015, he is talking again about making a bid for the nomination with fewer excuses than he previously made.  Continue reading

2014 Symposium: Should the government be involved in the politics of sports (LA Clippers, Ray Rice, and Washington Redskins)?

Asheville, NC: Government is actively involved in the regulation of sports. Legal monopolies are granted to the MLB, the NBA, and the NFL. All three organizations are also granted tax-exempt status despite their enormous profitability. Professional sports organizations receive billions in bonds, tax deferral, and civic money for the construction of new stadiums and other facilities. The degree of co-mingling between government and sports organizations is already quite dramatic. Continue reading

2013 Symposium: Do You Think The Average American Citizen Is Tired Of Politics?

Cartwright: Undoubtedly. Hell, I’m sick of politics. It’s a terrible little game that gets played with the political elite in this country and all the average American citizens are just pawns getting screwed in the process. I wouldn’t change our system, our constitutional republic, for anything else in the world. Yes, we have our problems, but it’s the best game in town when you compare it to socialist states or communist states or other democracies. Continue reading
