Gastonia, NC Correspondent-Kellyanne Conway made news this week for her statement that our microwave ovens could be spying on us. Internet memes by the thousands sprang up, showing everything from Kellyanne herself to Chris Hansen of “To Catch A Predator” fame to the Eye of Sauron peeking out from microwaves on counters, over stoves and in cabinets. Is Inflation a tax? If so, is it the most regressive tax we pay?
Prescott Valley Correspondent-With inflation not being under direct government control or managed by a federal or state taxing authority, like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), it is not going to be considered a direct tax, though inflation certainly has effects that are tax-like in nature. What are the benefits of local Farmers Markets versus large grocery chains and big box stores?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent-There are a number of benefits of utilizing local farmer’s markets versus large grocery chains and big box stores. For one thing, produce shoppers are interested in freshness rather than lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries and other fruits and vegetables that have been harvested too soon and have been sitting in vegetable and fruit bins longer than they should have been which contributes to lower nutritional value, freshness and taste. Prescott Valley Correspondent-Russia always poses some kind of threat to the world, whether real or imagined, simply because of its espionage capabilities as well as its land mass, nuclear power arsenal, and geographical location in conjunction with the Middle East, Europe and other countries that have separated from the old Soviet Union. Was President Trump correct in exiting the United States from the Paris Climate Change Agreement of 2015?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent– President Trump was correct in exiting the United States from the Paris Climate Change Agreement for a number of reasons. One of the most important of which was the fact that the Accords were never submitted by the Obama administration as a treaty, which would require a two-thirds vote by the Senate for approval. Trying to adopt an international agreement such as the Accords without calling the agreement a treaty would have never passed muster with the Senate. Continue reading
Should Congress pass a law requiring all Presidential candidates to have held at least one political office before running for President of the United States?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent– Congress should not pass a law requiring all presidential candidates to have held at least one political office before running for President of the United States. Should current White House media operations be scrapped for some other form of reporting and distribution?
Owatonna, MN Correspondent-Perhaps the only group of people who use words to persuade or convince more than debaters or advertisers is politicians. And sometimes, what is not said carries more weight and meaning that what is said. That’s why dozens if not hundreds of reporters flock to the White House daily to hear what the Administration says or doesn’t say on the topics of the day. Continue reading
Is the media frenzy and Congressional inquiry into the firing of James Comey a political witch hunt, an attempt to derail President Trump’s agenda, or a worthwhile endeavor?
Owatonna, MN Correspondent-Ever since Woodward and Bernstein rocked the world with their reporting on Watergate, which led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon, the media seems to consist mostly of opportunists who are looking more to make a name for themselves by breaking a big story instead of being content to simply report the facts. The downside of this constant search for scandal is that any story that hints of cover-up, collusion, or possible criminal activity is over reported, over hyped, and then spun from all sides to either deflect damage or make political hay. This makes it impossible for the average American to know who’s telling the truth on an issue like the Comey firing. Continue reading
Should President Trump fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller concerning the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and possible obstruction of justice allegations concerning former National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn?
From Our Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent
Any firing in relationship to Robert Mueller’s position as Special Counsel should be the concern of the Department of Justice and the Congress. They should determine whether Mueller should remain as Special Counsel because of the many conflicts that exist with the appointment. Any concerns should point to Mueller recusing or extricating himself from the investigation, and at this point, President Trump should not be part of the exit process. Mueller should have never been appointed in the first place and Attorney General Jeff Sessions should not have recused himself from the original investigations. Continue reading
