Owatonna, MN Correspondent-Ever since the tragedy of 9/11 and its resultant knee-jerk reactions of revenge, declaration of war on terrorism, and an emphasis on patriotism, outsized attention has been given to perceived acts of disrespect to America and so-called American values. We started singing “God Bless America” at sporting events. We put an emphasis on thanking our military members for their service. Patriotic songs such as “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood gained new popularity. Celebrities seemed to fall all over themselves to show support for the wars in the Middle East. Continue reading

Are school bus cameras worthwhile for safety or will they wind up causing privacy problems and higher traffic accident rates similar to traffic cameras?
Gastonia, NC Correspondent-The city of Austin, Texas, long one of my favorite places on earth, made the national news recently over its implementation of cameras on school buses which are designed to catch those who refuse to heed the myriad of things that blink and beep to tell you the bus is stopped and speed blithely by, frequently mowing down a tot or two in the process. With the Obama administration’s plan to yield control of the technical management of the internet to those in the global community, should Congress prevent the turnover of the internet to foreign interests and the United Nations?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent- The major technology companies, which include Facebook, Google, Twitter, Yahoo, Amazon and others are now calling for Congress to support the plan for transfer of the technical aspect of the internet to those in the global community. Many in the public, private individuals and internet based companies are wary of this plan because of numerous restrictive and invasive aspects, which likely entail the full run of the internet by rogue and authoritarian regimes that already want ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) to become part of the United Nations. If Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party’s Presidential nominee, earns his way into the Presidential debates, could that signal the end of the two-party political system in the U.S. and a change to a more permanent multi-party system like those found in many European nations?
Owatonna, MN Correspondent-Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico, is the most popular third-party candidate for President since H. Ross Perot in 1992. He’s closing in on 15% approval ratings in many polls, the benchmark by which candidates are invited to the nationally-televised Presidential debates. Continue reading
Is Terrorism The New Normal?
Owatonna, MN Correspondent- With the recent terrorist attacks in the New York City area taking more lives and damaging more property, the question must be asked: Is terrorism here to stay? To answer that, we must ask two other questions. The first is why are terrorists attacking us? The second is can either side prevail in this new type of guerilla warfare? Continue reading
Should Ryan Lochte be stripped of his medals and banned from future competitions for his behavior at the Rio Olympics? Why or why not?
Sheffield, Jamaica Correspondent-“With whom much is given, much is expected”. When you’re in a position as Ryan Lochte, with a great deal to lose, you have to be careful.
Be mindful, those athletes involved are all humans, and imperfect ones at that, but that does not exclude their juvenile and irresponsible behavior. Continue reading

Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent-America’s transportation infrastructure, which is managed by the DOT (Department of Transportation) and administered in a number of capacities by a series of support programs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 includes a number of tax funded and grant programs that apportion monies between urban and rural transportation needs. Comments On The “New” Blair Witch
From Our Gastonia, NC Correspondent:
Back in 1999, a blockbuster horror movie filled theaters nationwide and had millions of mostly teen and early-20s moviegoers scared out of their hoodies (or into them) and seeing the flick over and over. Continue reading
In light of the myriad problems and risks present in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics, should the Olympic summer games permanently move to Athens, Greece, the birthplace of the modern Olympic Games?
Gastonia, NC Correspondent-While there were a few problems in Rio (not nearly as many as Ryan Lochte would have us believe), the Games overall went off pretty smoothly. Its lingering effects on the Brazilian economy remain to be seen, with estimates ranging from a huge bonanza to the financial analog of a gas truck plowing into a fireworks factory. Continue reading
A recent Rasmussen poll indicated that a majority of voters want to see Hillary Clinton’s health records. With her health issues becoming apparent to the public, should she and other high level candidates for office be forced to release their medical records?
Sheffield, Jamaica Correspondent-If you’re delving into the deep dark pits of politics, be prepared for the worst. On that note, if the Rasmussen poll indicates that the vast majority of voters would love to glance at Hillary Clinton’s medical history, by all means, appease them. It’s called politics and in most instances, they say the voters are always right. My vote will be buried at the bottom of the sea. I’ll never allow those politicians that honor. I know…It’s not about me, but I just felt like ranting because I can. Continue reading
