President Obama recently claimed that race relations have improved in America. Have they, or have they not improved?

Sheffield, Jamaica Correspondent-President Obama is a tremendous persona and as black as I am, I’d love to agree with him. However, at this moment, I need to take the back bench. America is what it is.

When I think of disloyal, pompous, and backbiting individuals, America comes to mind. Don’t get me wrong, there are so many decent and morally prosperous people residing in America, but the majority is spray paint. Everyone seems happy and friendly, until your back is turned. Continue reading

Should the Monday after the Super bowl be named a national holiday?

Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent– The Monday after the Super Bowl should not be named a national holiday because Americans have enough holidays to keep them out of work for an extra day or two as it is, but that won’t stop food companies like Kraft /Heinz from attempting through an advertising ploy for their food products . They have planned on letting their salaried employees off the day after Super Bowl LI, February 6, 2017. Continue reading

Is there a double standard for sexual harassment?

Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent-There does appear to be a double standard concerning sexual harassment.  It seems that now the reverse is happening with women towards men.  As women move more and more into the corporate world and are exposed to larger numbers of people and situations in the workplace, the instances of sexual harassment towards men are more likely to occur. Will the recent protest marches against President Trump by millions of women across the country re-energize the Women’s Rights Movement to the level of influence possessed in the 1960s and 1970s?

Owatonna, MN Correspondent-The women’s lib, or women’s rights movement was a major engine for social change as the Baby Boom generation came of age. Virtually overnight, women began to lobby and protest for abortion rights, equal pay for equal work, access to sports activities via Title IX, and freedom from their subservient role in our male-dominated society. Combined with the Civil Rights movement and anti-war protesting, the Women’s Rights movement precipitated one of the most radical shifts in cultural awareness in our history.

Is the “Not My President” movement a reflection of apathy of many voters towards the election process? Has the “Not My President” rhetoric gotten out of hand?

Owatonna, MN Correspondent-In one way, the “Not My President” movement does reflect apathetic voters, particularly Democrats, because the feeling came through during the campaign that two things were happening. First, many voters presumed that Hillary Clinton would win because she had the better resume than Donald Trump and that she should win so we can get this darned “First Woman President” nonsense over and done with. As if her winning the election was a foregone conclusion. Continue reading

The American Medical Association (AMA) has held the belief that assisted suicide is not compatible with the role of a doctor. In projected meetings of the AMA in mid November, there are to be discussions as to possible changes in assisted suicide policies. Should the AMA stay loyal to the Hippocratic Oath and continue to oppose assisted suicide?

Do amber alerts place more importance on people with children and their domestic problems? Should alerts be extended to missing adults and pets?

Gastonia, NC Correspondent-The Amber Alert system has proven to be a very powerful tool in locating and rescuing missing and endangered children nationwide.  Yes, having your phone go off at an inopportune time with an alert can be annoying, and often the digital signs along the freeway seem to have incomplete information, but overall the system works very well.  Continue reading

Homeowners and investors in real estate pay substantial taxes to fund local school operations. Should property owners who don’t have children be exempt from the school portion of local property taxes or should their portion of school taxes be diverted to other public services such as fire and police protection (or another service)?

Gastonia, NC Correspondent-Public education is just that: It’s for the public, and for the benefit of the public at large.  The education of our children isn’t only for the benefit of their parents or their families, it’s a huge benefit to the entire American society.

Say I’m a single man in my 50s who’s never married and never fathered any children.  I own my own business, make a comfortable living and own a nice house in the suburbs.  It would seem that I probably have a case to argue that I shouldn’t have to pay taxes to support the local schools, right?  Continue reading

Symposium 2016: Liberals are still reeling from the election win and have appeared to have gone into breakdown mode over the results. Instead of acceptance, they have created a world unto themselves. Will their radical agenda continue and should they be allowed to have a stranglehold on others?

Owatonna, MN Correspondent- I was truly amazed by the depth of despair displayed by so many Democratic voters after the November elections. I heard numerous anecdotes about people in tears, depressed, talking about moving to Canada or another country, and viewing Donald Trump’s victory as the end of the world as we know it. Continue reading

Symposium 2016: Are people who choose to have pets rather than children discriminated against? With the perception that pets are now part of a family, should laws be changed to prevent businesses from discriminating against people who have pets?

Myrtle Beach, SC Correspondent- As a proud dog-Mom I would say yes! Now, let me clarify, I KNOW my dog is NOT a child nor do I treat him like one. However, he’s expensive! I keep him up to date on shots, feed him, take him to the vet for ear infections, buy him toys and treats, new beds, $22 a night when we leave town, the list goes on. Also, he was adopted from our local Humane Society a Non-profit. I think we are discriminated against for the sheer fact we can’t deduct a portion of their care. But, that’s not really what this question is about. Continue reading
