Owatonna, MN Correspondent-The world is finally waking up to the fact that marijuana is no more dangerous than alcohol and shouldn’t be outlawed. Canada is the latest in the growing trend of countries and states who are legalizing pot for recreational use. Although Canada’s decision to legalize sends a clear message to other nations that the trend is growing, it won’t necessarily push the US government to legalize marijuana nationwide. Continue reading

How can we solve the growing labor shortages and get foreign workers into US jobs where they are needed?
Gastonia, NC Correspondent-There are tens of thousands of businesses across the U.S. hanging out help wanted signs for technical and professional jobs that are going unfilled. We simply don’t have the talent base in our native workforce to fill them all, and it will be decades before we’ve got enough workers trained to meet the need…by which time the opportunity will be gone. Continue reading
Will the new relationship between The US and North Korea lead to real peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula?
Owatonna, MN Correspondent-President Trump’s summit meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un was historic and significant only in that it was a first of many small steps toward creating a better relationship between the two nations. Most experts have said nothing substantial came out of the summit in terms of tangible policy like North Korea following through on its promise to denuclearize. Continue reading
President Trump has called on the Congress to send him a bill that fixes the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Should this involve amnesty, a path to citizenship, or some other solution to immigration?
Myrtle Beach, SC Correspondent-The ONLY thing it should include is a path to citizenship. There is absolutely no reason to offer amnesty. I don’t want to sound heartless, but it’s not fair to grant amnesty for the sheer fact that their parents brought them over illegally. It’s NOT difficult to become an American citizen. There isn’t much else to say on the subject…become a citizen or leave like everyone else. I have a friend who wanted to come to America at a young age from Germany. So, she joined the American Army as a translator in Germany and went through the legal process to become an American citizen. I don’t know why all of the sudden it’s ok to allow “illegals” to stay. Did they change the definition of illegal without me knowing? Continue reading
President Trump has decided to pull the US out of the Paris Climate accord, the treaty designed to combat “climate change.” Will those who want to work toward solving the problems associated with global warming be more effective or less effective without the participation of the US government?
Myrtle Beach Correspondent-Even though Trump has pulled out it seems as though many US based businesses have not. I’m not convinced on Global Warming one way or another. I do believe it is important to start finding alternative solutions for energy. We do need to work on emissions as well, but why can’t we just plant more trees? This is a whole different argument so I digress. Will the accord be as effective without the US? Yes, I believe it will. I’m not really well educated on this accord; but I think every other country has agreed to participate, and I believe the US still will if some specific changes are made. Continue reading
How can the US (or any other country for that matter) stop North Korea from inciting a nuclear war?
Cartwright-I really think we only have two options. We either launch pre-emptive strikes to take out their nuclear facilities, their political leadership, their military, and their infrastructure or we completely disengage from North Korea, ignore them, allow the regime to obtain nuclear weapons, and live with the consequences. Continue reading
Has increased immigration (illegal and legal) contributed to depressed wages and the increase of the working poor in America?
Gastonia, NC Correspondent-Blaming illegal immigration for depressed wages and an increase in the poor is at best a spurious argument, and only addresses a tiny portion of the root causes of both problems. Continue reading
Are there benefits to a border solar wall between the American southern border and Mexico? If so, what are they?
Gastonia, NC Correspondent– It’s a bit hilarious to me that we’re still talking about the border wall. After all the campaign statements Trump made that have not come to fruition, we still believe he’s going to have Mexico pay for a gigantic physical wall that will be nothing more than a symbolic gesture? Continue reading
Should English be the official language of the United States?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent– English should always be given first priority as the official language of the United States and many citizens have the mistaken idea that it already is the official language. Unfortunately, at this date and time it is not official at the federal level for a number of reasons. Continue reading
Do terrorist attacks in Europe prove that a travel ban is necessary?
Prescott Valley, AZ Correspondent-Attacks in Europe do prove that a travel ban is necessary. With countries in Europe dealing with current terrorist activities along with almost literal refusals to protect themselves from dangerous activists within and outside of their countries, something has to be done to prevent potential terrorists from entering the United States and other countries. Continue reading
