Washington, D.C., Myrtle Beach, SC & Orlando, FL (PRWEB) June 26, 2006 — Robert “Digger” Cartwright formally announced today the release of his latest mystery novel, Murder at the Ocean Forest. The novel is set at the famed Ocean Forest Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 1941. The intricate plot stretches from the stormy coast of Myrtle Beach to the battlefields of World War II and introduces Feltus Boone La Mont, the quintessential Southern hotel detective.
Terence and Faye Underwood meet an eclectic array of guests in a train’s club car while traveling to the
luxurious Ocean Forest Hotel during World War II. Lord George Ashburn, a distinguished member of the
British aristocracy, is convalescing after an accident on the battlefield. Lady Jane Ashburn is suspicious of
their new acquaintances, especially the flamboyant Terence. Preacher Cooper, a devout man of the cloth,
condemns the war and any talk of heroics with respect to such atrocities. At the hotel, Faye encounters
Elizabeth Bascomb, a renowned clairvoyant reputed to have psychic capabilities or the “third eye”.
After a lover’s quarrel and their apparent reconciliation days later, Faye goes missing following a horseback
riding excursion on the beach. With evidence suggesting that Terence may have murdered his wife, Feltus
prepares to make an arrest, only to find that the suspected murderer is dead in his bed, apparently suffocated.
The door is locked from the inside of the room, and there is no evidence of a forced entry or exit. Feltus
begins a separate investigation into this murder. None of those individuals who knew the Underwoods had an
alibi, but through various sources Feltus discovers that each suspect has a very strong motive for wanting
Terence Underwood dead.
As the investigation mounts, Feltus is drawn further into the intriguing web surrounding the Underwoods and
their acquaintances. A very persistent Feltus, through several dramatic and well-planned traps, eventually
uncovers the skeletons in the closets of all his guests—skeletons that lead him to the murderer at the Ocean
Forest.
Erika Velasquez, spokeswoman for Mr. Cartwright, offered the following on announcing the publication of
Murder at the Ocean Forest:
“Mr. Cartwright is very pleased that Murder at the Ocean Forest has been released. He is excited to introduce
his faithful readers to his newest sleuth, Feltus Boone La Mont. He is confident that his fans will enjoy
reading the first book in the series set in 1940s Myrtle Beach as much as he enjoyed writing it.”
The book is available in hardback, paperback, and e-book format through Digger Cartwright’s website,
