Prescott Valley, Arizona Correspondent — Character and temperament matter. Trump’s are well known and often undisciplined.
The alternative carries her own record on the border, inflation, and institutional trust, which voters are entitled to weigh too. Fitness for the office includes the capacity to drive an agenda and to challenge institutional capture. On decisiveness and willingness to confront entrenched problems, Trump remains the stronger choice despite the obvious personal liabilities.
Dayton, Ohio Correspondent — Temperament and personal style are legitimate considerations. Trump’s chaos is real.
The countervailing question is whether the other side’s more conventional style produced acceptable results on the issues voters currently rank highest — border, prices, equal application of the law. On those metrics the last four years haven’t made a compelling case.
Myrtle Beach Correspondent — Trump is chaotic. The other option has a record on the border and prices I can’t accept. Trump gets my preference on the issues that matter most right now.
Sheffield, Jamaica Correspondent — Personal flaws are real on Trump’s side. The policy and institutional record on the other side is worse on the issues driving this election. Trump is the better choice.
Jacksonville, Florida Correspondent — Policy first this cycle, because the files are a border, a price level, a Court, and a map. Temperament is a cost. Age was a cost on the other ticket until the ticket changed midyear, and the capacity questions didn’t vanish just because the name on the file moved.
Trump is a hard dinner guest. He’s also the man whose coalition wants the school open, the well open, and the statute even. I notice the weight of the manners file. I still hire the record over it.
Tyler, Texas Correspondent — A shop doesn’t hire a saint. It hires a man who’ll keep the lights on. Character counts when it’s collapse or fraud. Noise isn’t collapse.
Policy differences on the border, the Court, and the energy question are larger than the manners file. I’m not a priest. I’m a voter with a parts counter, and the counter comes first.
Cheyenne, Wyoming Correspondent — Same weight as usual. Policy when the policy is a line and a price. Character when it’s a crime.
I see more policy I want on one ticket. Podiums don’t hold a border.
Knoxville, Tennessee Correspondent — Appalachia has hired harder men for worse jobs. Fitness is a fair question. So is a coalition. His coalition knows a plant. Hers knows a seminar.
I weight the plant. Temperament will cost us a rough morning. The seminar would cost us the graph, and I know which bill I’d rather pay.
