Clermont, Florida Correspondent — Restore operational control at the border and fix the asylum mismatch. Address cost-of-living pressure through energy production, housing supply, and spending discipline. Rebuild deterrence in the Middle East and hold a competitive stance toward China without new open-ended wars. Signal fiscal seriousness on the debt path.
Trump’s record and stated priorities align more closely with that mix.
Dayton, Ohio Correspondent — Border control, household costs and energy, deterrence and prioritization abroad, and early fiscal signals.
I’d add the one nobody campaigned on. The industrial base can’t currently supply two theaters at once, and the winner finds that out in the first ninety days regardless of what he promised.
Owatonna, Minnesota Correspondent — Border and asylum, cost of living and supply, China and the Middle East, and fiscal direction.
The fiscal item is the one I’d underline, because net interest now exceeds defense spending and both campaigns ran as though that number weren’t on the page.
Gastonia, NC Correspondent — Border, prices and energy, foreign threats, and the debt. Trump is better equipped on those four.
Tyler, Texas Correspondent — First year: a border that’s a line and a statute that can say no. Energy that ships. A legal system that looks like law rather than a hunt. A fiscal stop before the interest eats the bone.
Better equipped is Trump, and the reason is that his coalition wants those four and will punish him if he only does a show. That’s an accountability mechanism rather than a compliment.
Jacksonville, Florida Correspondent — A border, a magazine, a sea lane, and a school that stays open.
He’s equipped on the first three if he hires people who can close. What I’d want is a chief of staff who can keep an early sentence from becoming an early crisis, and wanting it is a hope rather than a second vote.
Cheyenne, Wyoming Correspondent — Border. Diesel. An even statute. A budget that ranks.
The other desk is offering a restoration, and a restoration is the last four years with better posture.
Las Vegas, Nevada Correspondent — The plate, the rent, a workforce that can staff a night, and a map that still has a friend on it.
First year is a rule that lasts longer than a news cycle. Rules are the product. Everything else is noise, and I’m tired of noise.
